Australian petrol prices hit four-and-a-half year high

A Queensland grandmother is calling on Australians to boycott all petrol stations on Friday 26 October in a bold protest against rising prices.

More than 40,000 people nationwide say they’ll join in on the day of action, which would also include not buying drinks and snacks from service stations.

She is calling on the federal government to step in and remove the excise on fuel.

The NRMA’s Peter Khoury tells Steve Price the price of fuel in some parts of the country has reached a four-and-a-half year high.

He says it particularly affects those in regional areas affected by the drought.

“It especially hurts out in the bush where you’ve also got to deal with the drought.”
