An Australian tourist has been killed by an elephant in Southern Africa.

The 59-year-old man was camping with a group of tourists when he was killed by the animal, according to Namibia’s Ministry of Tourism.

It is reported the area where they were camping was not a designated camping site.

Police are investigating whether the man was there under the watch of a tour guide.
