Australians on alert as ‘peak terror season’ approaches
Retired Major General Jim Molan tells Deborah Knight there’s “no doubt” the risk of a terror attack in Australia has increased following the defeat of Islamic State in Iraq.
“[The Christmas period is] peak terror season. We know there is an increased risk. Last year in Germany a number of people were killed when a truck ploughed into a Christmas market.”
“I wonder if it’s… a focus of young disgruntled individuals who see the Christian part of their society celebrating Christianity over this period.”
Mr Molan also said President Donald Trump’s acknowledgement of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital could trigger a young person to “think the wrong thoughts and do the wrong thing”.
