Australia’s newest Senator – Jim Molan
Newly declared Senator Jim Molan has spoken with Michael McLaren in his first interview since being elevated into government.
The retired army Major General was initially in seventh place on the LNP ticket at the 2016 election, earning an astonishing 10,182 votes but not enough for election.
But the High Court has now approved Mr Molan to take up the Senate seat left vacant by Fiona Nash during the dual citizenship saga.
The incoming senator says he’s “honoured”, after a long wait for approval.
“It’s a great honour, I’m doing it the hard way, there’s no two ways about that.
“It was extraordinary when 10,000 people found me right down the list of coalition candidates at number seven position. That was indeed an honour, because it was hard work finding me all the way down there.
