‘Banks have got a big hill to climb’: Banking Royal Commission to be handed down
The findings from the Banking Royal Commission will be released on Monday, with the federal government spending this weekend going over the report.
The Commission has uncovered countless examples of gross financial misconduct by the banks and financial institutions over the past year.
Australian Banking Association chief executive Anna Bligh tells Ross Greenwood banks won’t have a choice but to lift their game.
“I do expect that there will be a lot of food for thought and that banks are going to take this report very, very seriously,” she says.
“Banks know that they’ve got a big hill to climb to earn back trust from their customers and to earn back their reputation with the Australian people.”
