Best of both worlds: Netball legend’s compromise for AFL fans amid finals clash
It’s an all-New South Wales Super Netball Grand Final on Saturday, with the Swifts taking on the Giants.
Former Diamonds captain Liz Ellis told Deborah Knight she’s “pumped”, but admitted “it’s a bit hard to know who to cheer for”.
The timing of the Grand Final has been subject to controversy, after the AFL ‘rudely’ brought forward their Swans-Giants game to create a schedule clash, but Liz offered up a compromise.
“Listen, we all know how it takes a long while for AFL games to get going.
“You can … sit down at 2:30 tomorrow arvo, watch the netball, really enjoy that – it’ll be a super close game.
“That’ll be done and dusted by 5, and then you can flick over and watch the second half of the AFL which is when it gets exciting.”
