A small business owner has shared the crippling rise in power prices.

Melanie told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live her Baskin Robbins store in North Lakes received a power bill of $1889.10 for 12 days of supply, around $157 a day.

Neil said he was “in shock” about her story.

She did the maths on what she could expect from a quarterly bill.

“It would have been, if we had stayed with them, $14,168 for the quarter.”

She has since changed providers, but says it is “frightening” to see the power prices skyrocketing.
