Border fire joins up as conditions escalate
A border fire between NSW and Victoria is joining up amid worsening conditions.
More than 120 fires are burning in NSW, with four at Watch and Act levels in the Snowy Valley area near the Victorian border.
Crews have worked through the night to prepare for severe fire conditions on the NSW South Coast, with temperatures expected to climb above 40 degrees in Sydney’s west.
RFS Deputy Commissioner Rob Rogers tells Natalie Peters and Erin Molan they are working with their Victorian counterparts for up-to-date information.
“In some cases, they’re probably actually even joining. They’re not far at all.”
