Rugby league player Liam Hampson found dead in Barcelona
Queensland rugby league player Liam Hampson has been found dead in a Barcelona nightclub.
The Redcliffe Dolphins player had not been seen for 30 hours after he disappeared on a holiday with a group of NRL players.
Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia reports Hampson was found by workers in the leisure complex at nightclub Sala Apolo.
The report says the club was the last place the 24-year-old was seen and that he fell from a height of 10 metres.
It comes after desperate pleas from Gold Coast Titans player AJ Brimson and the Brisban Broncos’ Jordan Riki and Jesse Arthars, who took to Instagram in an effort to track him down.
“This is going to rock a lot of people, this news, as they’re waking up to it now,” Wide World of Sports host Peter Psaltis told Laurel, Gary & Mark.
“If you know anyone that plays, not just for Redcliffe, or for Tweed, or [is] involved in those clubs, involved in the competition, just give them a buzz today to make sure they’re doing alright, because this one’s going to hit home very hard.”

The 24-year-old Hampson played three seasons for Tweed Seagulls before his move to Redcliffe for 2022.
Both the Australian consulate and Hampson’s family have been contacted by Spanish authorities.
