Brisbane lights up the skies to welcome in the New Year
150,000 people have flocked to the Brisbane River to watch the skies come alive to farewell 2018 in near-perfect summer conditions.
More than 45,000 effects were spread across four key locations as part of the overnight spectacular, accompanied by a soundtrack of the past year’s biggest hits.
It was the city’s biggest New Year’s Eve fireworks display.
Queensland Police rostered on about 400 extra police for New Year’s Eve, with large crowds also attending celebrations in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.
