Brisbane Lord Mayor unveils new housing plan amid crisis
In response to the growing housing crisis, Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner unveiled a new housing construction plan.
The Brisbane City Council has introduced a new plan that offers significant reductions in infrastructure fees for private and community housing providers, to ensure the delivery of new homes.
The Lord Mayor told Peter Gleeson on Drive, “…Something has to change, we thought we would do our part and other levels of government need to step up as well, but by reducing our fees we can help bring down the cost and hopefully make these projects feasible and affordable so they can get cracking…”
“…The best way overall to help relieve some of that cost pressure is for us to get more homes being built. We’ve seen in the past, wherever we see the supply of new homes and apartments meet the demand, the prices start to level out and stabalise…” the Lord Mayor continued.
