Brisbane’s bus network under the microscope
Brisbane City Council will launch a major review into the bus network ahead of the Metro Tunnel project.
Transport chair Cr Ryan Murphy says the changes will be the most extensive changes to Brisbane’s bus network in over a decade.
He says the review is time critical as the Brisbane Metro project gets underway.
“We know that in Brisbane the rail network does the heavy lifting for Brisbane … but in Brisbane its actually the bus network that does two thirds of the public transport tasks,” he told Spencer Howson, filling in on 4BC Breakfast.
Buses move around 80 million passengers a year and he says there hasn’t been an extensive review in arguably 25 years.
One of the issues is bus congestion in the city.
