The final piece of the Neville Bonner Bridge has been installed overnight after two years of construction.

The last deck unit, which weighs 20 tonnes, was fitted in the early hours of this morning.

Destination Brisbane Consortium project director Simon Crooks told Laurel, Gary & Mark there’s still plenty of work to be done before the bridge opens to the public.

“What will happen in the coming months is we’ll actually concrete the whole bridge and then put the paving surfacing on,” he said.
