Businesses ‘jittery’ over WFH murmurs amid rising COVID-19 cases
As COVID-19 and flu cases surge in Queensland, there’s chatter health authorities could re-introduce work from home arrangements.
Federal Health Minister Mark Butler today Australians should work from home if they fall sick, and warned COVID-19 cases could rise to “millions of cases” in coming weeks.
While the state government has so far ruled out mask mandates or further restrictions, the business community says the uncertainty could impact small businesses already on edge.
Property Council Queensland executive director Jen Williams says Brisbane has been abuzz with activity, and a return to mask requirements or work from home arrangements would be devastating for the city.
“Business thrives on confidence, people getting jittery is not what we need right now.”
There has been a resurgence of activity in the city, she said.
To date, Ms Williams said the Queensland government has been “measured” in their approach despite COVID-19 and flu cases rising significantly.
