New Queensland penalties are putting rogue taxi and rideshare drivers on notice.

In response to escalating complaints, the State Government is tightening the reins on taxi and rideshare drivers caught exploiting riders.

The surge in grievances varies, from drivers overcharging passengers, refusing rides, or manipulating routes for increased fares.

The consequences for these malpractices are getting stiffer, with drivers risking the loss of their operating licenses.

Taxi drivers have hit back against the new regulations announced today.

The CEO of QLD Taxi License Owners Association, Paul Scaini, has labelled the crackdown as, “…Merited but it’s a joke…”

You can report dodgy drivers by calling 13 12 30 or by emailing personalised.transport@tmr.qld.gov.au
