Queensland’s Cameron Smith has putted his way to victory at The Open Championship to claim the first major golf title of his career.

But not long after his win, he was asked about speculation he will be joining the Saudi-backed LIV Golf

“The reports are sweeping Europe like wildfire, that he is going to be a marquee signing for Greg Norman’s rebel gold tour, the LIV Golf Tour,” Neil Breen said.

3AW host Mark Allen weighed in.

“He’s the world number two now, I’m not sure if that’s come out or not, but that’s what I have been told.”

He said it was an “exit plan” for some golfers.
