Capalaba café owner arrested after refusing to comply with health directions

A Capalaba café owner was arrested at the weekend after refusing to comply with public health measures.
Police say they’d previously visited The Vintage Apron in the lead-up to the owner’s arrest but previous warnings were unsuccessful.
Senior Sergeant David Candale told Neil Breen members of the community made more than 20 complaints about the business.
“The fact that the persons not only running the place, but also the patrons, were not complying with our current Queensland Health COVID directions,” he said.
“The officers had no other options but to take this person into custody yesterday.
“We’ve tried to take a mediative approach, we’ve tried compassion, we’ve tried negotiation with all of the persons, including the customers.”
He said police are searching for another man who was present at the arrest yesterday.
“There was a gentleman there who forcibly obstructed the officers in their duties yesterday.
“That gentleman appears on video and we are going to make our best attempts to locate and arrest that person as well.”
