Changes to flight paths are no election ploy, Brisbane MP says
Residents under controversial flight paths are being promised some reprieve after thousands of noise complaints.
The LNP is promising to implement all 49 changes recommended by a report drawn up by independent consultants.
Two years after the second runway opened, the party says all flight paths will be “ripped up and redrawn”.
Brisbane MP Trevor Evans was adamant the move hadn’t been timed to win votes at the upcoming election.
“I can appreciate that cynicism but I would point to the fact that we’ve stood up now about three times … since the second runway began,” he told Neil Breen.
“What we saw announced yesterday was just one piece of the work, what will be an ongoing piece of work that will transcend the election cycle.
“This is about the long-term liveability and lifestyle of Brisbane.”
