Changes to work visas are impacting the agriculture industry
The Albanese Government has made changes to the restrictions for backpackers working in Australia, and it is causing problems for farmers.
Starting from Saturday, the 1st of July, backpackers will be required to pay $640 to work in Australia.
Richard Shannon, the Executive Officer of the National Farmers Federation Horticulture Council, shared with Peter Gleeson on 4BC Drive, “So it becomes a problem when the fee increases, as it deters backpackers from coming to the country.”
