Christmas cheer for Queensland’s retail sector
Christmas might come early for the Sunshine State’s retail sector.
New consumer predictions from Roy Morgan Research show Queenslanders are expected to spend just over $12 billion on retail in the lead up to Christmas Day, after COVID restrictions and lockdowns have significantly impacted retail.
Chief industry affairs officer from the Australian Retailers Association, Fleur Brown, said discretionary retail like clothing, footwear, and department stores have done it the “toughest”.
“This is their time, and it is actually the time when most of those retailers make up to two thirds of their profits.”
