Clive Palmer’s controversial track record targeted in new ad campaign
Clive Palmer’s controversial record as an employer will be the focus of a new ad campaign launching today.
The Australian Workers’ Union is targeting voters in an ad blitz to combat Mr Palmer’s cash splash selling himself as a friend of the average worker.
Mr Palmer was embroiled in a legal battle in 2019 following the Queensland Nickel liquidation that ended in an agreement to pay all outstanding employee entitlements.
It’s a mark on his record the AWU doesn’t want voters to forgive in the face of a record political advertising spend.
“Our members, they were chasing that money for years and years and years,” the union’s National Secretary, Daniel Walton, told Ray Hadley.
“When they did get their entitlements, they were forced to sign non-disparagement clauses.
“That is a legal document, which some people might know is essentially saying you can’t say a single bad thing about your former employer.
“Whilst on one hand we see the UAP being big promoters of freedom, on the other hand, they made sure our members couldn’t tell their story about what happened to them.”
