Police have declared an Oxley home a crime scene after a fatal shooting in the early hours of this morning.

9News reporter Meg Sydes told Bill McDonald it’s believed four males and one female were involved in a dispute with a male resident on Cliveden Avenue just before 3.30am.

It’s understood a male neighbour attempted to intervene upon witnessing the commotion, and was shot dead.

“The male deceased was struck at very close range and we believe the weapon involved was a 12-gauge shotgun,” Brisbane Region Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said.

“At this stage, it is not clear how the five people left this area.”

The resident of the home suffered minor injuries and is now speaking with detectives.

The street has been closed as officers investigate, blocking the drop-off zone for Corinda State School.
