Cost challenges hinder trucking industry’s shift to electric vehicles
As Australia pushes towards net zero emissions, the trucking industry is facing challenges in transitioning to electric vehicles.
A summit held in New South Wales heard that most trucking companies are finding it challenging to justify the shift to electric fleets due to cost implications.
Gary Mahon, CEO of the Trucking Association told Peter Gleeson on Drive, “…At the moment you’re looking at in the order of three times capital cost and you’re also looking at about a 20 per cent reduction in pay load, so to commercialise these vehicles is still a reasonable challenge.”
