A cow was on loose at a Coolangatta beach earlier today.

Police were on the scene keeping people away from the spooked animal.

It’s believed it may have been caught up in floodwaters yesterday, ending up a few kilometres from its home.

Nine News reporter Luke Bradnam was on the scene and said locals have been flocking down to see the unusual sight.

He told Sofie Formica it was quite surreal.

“It has believed to have been washed up kilometres down the river from a farm somewhere around Terranora, is what the experts I’ve been talking to believe.”
