After almost a decade, Northern Territory authorities have finally captured what they’re calling a “monster” crocodile.

Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife rangers caught the 4.7-metre salt-water crocodile at Taylor’s Park, roughly 60km south of Katherine, on Monday.

Weighing a whopping 600kg and said to be 60-years-old, it’s the biggest crocodile removed from the Katherine River.

Outback Wrangler Matt Wright tells Michael McLaren the “large male crocodile ” shouldn’t cause people to panic.

Likening the croc to a “living dinosaur”, Matt says “it’s not fair” there are calls for significant culls.

“We just spent the last 40 years getting the crocodile numbers back up.

“I think it’s madness.”
