Defence Minister Peter Dutton has apologised to SAS soldiers placed under scrutiny by the Brereton report.

Following the inquiry, subsequent investigations found there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the group of soldiers who served in Afghanistan with war crimes.

The Prime Minister avoided issuing an apology to the soldiers after then defence minister Linda Reynolds associated them with ‘cold-blooded murder’.

Minister Dutton told Ray Hadley he “has the back of our soldiers”.

“If people have been wrongly accused and they’ve now been cleared of that, then I do apologise for what they’ve been through, what their families have been through.”
