Demand for CDs, vinyls still going strong despite internet age
There’s a report that CDs and DVDs are making a resurgence in 2022, despite the emergence of new technologies and streaming platforms.
It’s particularly the case in regional areas, where internet can be an issue.
Manager of Rockaway Records in Carindale, Ryan Baker, said they had seen the trend in part.
“DVDs not so much, they seem to be on the way out … there isn’t much demand for DVDs,” he told Neil Breen.
“But CDs, we are definitely finding people still come in and they are very keen on them.”
Vinyl was still outselling anything else.
He said the comeback for vinyl in recent years was “huge” and the demand was far outweighing supply.
