A devastated mother is campaigning for tougher licensing restrictions after her son was struck and killed by an elderly driver two years ago.

Sue Jenkins’ 22-year-old son, Dann, was riding his motorbike when he was fatally hit by 87-year-old Edwin Jessop in October 2016.

Jessop was handed a nine-month suspended sentence and a three-year licence suspension.

He’s now attempting to get his licence back.

In NSW and Queensland, medical reviews are required for motorists over 75 but Sue says the current tests aren’t good enough.

“Mr Jessop passed his test late July and then killed our son in October. The test is inadequate,” she tells Ray Hadley.

Sue and her family are petitioning for change, calling for tougher licensing restrictions on elderly drivers.
