Dignified Dutton’s message for Malcolm
Peter Dutton is being praised following the Coalition’s election victory, not only for holding his own seat but for his role in removing Malcolm Turnbull last year.
In August 2018, the Home Affairs Minister challenged for the Liberal leadership.
He lost but it was the catalyst for Mr Turnbull vacating his position and Scott Morrison taking over.
Mr Dutton tells Ray Hadley he was only doing what was best for the party and for Australia.
“I was not motivated by animosity towards Malcolm, I was motivated by a desire to make sure Bill Shorten never became prime minister.
“We just weren’t in that position. There was no prospect, in my judgement, that it could turn around.”
Like the Coalition government, Mr Dutton defied all predictions to hold onto his seat of Dickson.
He tells Ray why the so-called experts got it so wrong.
