‘Disgrace’: Dead ibises litter the M1 after nesting gets ‘out of control’
The white ibises nesting along the M1 are wreaking havoc on the motorway, with one driver spotting 16 dead birds littered on the side of the road.
Brisbane Live was inundated with callers on Monday about the ongoing nesting problem near Stapylton.
“I counted 16 dead ibises from Beenleigh to Yatala, from shoulder to shoulder,” caller Justin told Neil Breen.
He said there were dozens more waiting to get hit, and it was an “absolute disgrace” with the nesting out of control.
A number of other callers had also spotted the birds.
Caller Daniel said he counted 16 birds in one spot, and 14 in another.
