They may have given Gold Coast residents a bit of a laugh but five naughty donkeys sure made an ass out of their babysitter yesterday! 

The herd, which includes three pregnant jennies, covered more than three kilometres after escaping their paddock in Wednesday night’s storm.

It left their babysitter, Steve from Currumbin Waters, in quite the flap when he woke to numerous social media posts documenting their escapades.

“They belong to a friend of ours,” he told Luke Bradnam on 4BC Summer Breakfast.

“She runs Harmony Hooves Healing Hearts, which is a pet therapy group and they are pet therapy donkeys.

“She’s had to go away on holidays and they are at our place, waiting to give birth, three of them!”
