A drone found within the grounds of the Townsville Correctional Centre in November was carrying drugs into the prison.

The Mavic Pro branded drone crashed around November 9, police believe, and was located by officers doing patrols.

It was carrying quantities of methylamphetamine, tobacco, cannabis as well as 617 suboxone strips with a total value of approximately $250,000.

Police say a light-coloured ute was seen near the centre at the time of the incident.

Investigators have released vision of a car captured on CCTV and are seeking assistance from the public for information on the drone or the car.
