Dutton says ‘we should be proud that Aussies do step up when they need to’
Almost 24 hours since a lone-driver speed into a busy intersection injuring 20 pedestrians in Melbourne, authorities are still not ruling out terrorism.
Chris Kenny speaks with Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton on why we can’t rush police into labelling the incident.
“I’m not much into political correctness. If I thought we need to clarify something I would.
“But they’re not ruling this out being a terrorist attack, they’re just saying matters are still under investigation.
“Some cases are very straightforward where organisations claim credit or there’s a flag flown.
“But in cases where it’s not, I think we’re better to leave police to do their work.”
Mr Dutton also made note of the heroism shown by Australians at the scene.
“That off-duty sergeant really is nothing short of a hero.
“I think we should be proud that Aussies do step up when they need to.”
