Dylan Alcott has moved into the final of the quad wheelchair singles with a win over his rival Andy Lapthorne.

Today’s match was won in just over an hour, launching the star into his eighth consecutive Australian Open final.

Thursday will be Alcott’s last professional tennis match after he announced his retirement from the tour.

“He almost transcends the sport, doesn’t he, because he’s just inspired so many people,” commentator Tom Rehn told Sofie Formica.

“Hopefully he hits that fairytale finish that he so thoroughly deserves!”
