East Brisbane State School desperate for alternative solutions to nightmare caused by the state government’s $2.7b Gabba rebuild.

The president of the East Brisbane State School P&C, Austin Gibbs, told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live that the situation has “caused a lot of stress in the community”.

The state government in February announced that they were closing the heritage-listed East Brisbane State School to make way for the Gabba rebuild for the Olympics.

But the only options that came with the announcement were to shut the school down completely or build a new school at Coorparoo.

However, Mr Gibbs said “there’s a few practical issues with that”.

Mr Gibbs also told Neil Breen that there are “other options” to losing the heritage-listed school.
