Eddie McGuire pays tribute to his good friend, Shane Warne
Arrangements are being finalised to bring the body of cricketing legend Shane Warne home.
The 52-year-old died after suffering a suspected heart attack at a luxury villa in Thailand on Friday.
The Great Southern Stand at the MCG will be renamed after him.
One of Warne’s great mates, Eddie McGuire told Neil Breen it’s a fitting tribute for a man who led an extraordinary life.
“I was trying to work out … what the best way it was to describe Warnie,” Mr McGuire said.
“And then I thought, do you remember The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton?
“Just like the kids who climbed The Faraway Tree, he lived a normal life at home and then suddenly, he’d climb his Faraway Tree, whether that was dominating world cricket, or going out for dinner with Elton and Mick Jagger, and dating Liz Hurley.
“He lived this amazing lifestyle.
“He threw his gold dust out upon everyone around him.”
