Education Minister called to ‘stand firm’ against calls to scrap NAPLAN
The state Education Minister is being urged not to bow to a union push to cancel this year’s NAPLAN tests.
The Queensland Teachers’ Union has reportedly attempted to strongarm the government into cancelling this year’s tests for the second time in two years.
It’s understood the QTU has pointed to severe weather and COVID-driven disruptions as reason to scrap the test.
Neil Breen said the Education Minister needs to stick to her guns and ignore noise from the union.
“We know Grace Grace did roll to the Queensland Teachers’ Union earlier in the year when the calendar was adjusted.
“This time, though, they’re standing firm but what they have to do is stay standing firm.”
