Ekka’s funding lifeline after two years of no show
Brisbane’s famous Ekka show is set to receive a million dollar lifeline, after the iconic event was cancelled two years running.
The federal government is providing up to $25 million to help more than 300 agriculture shows across the country that were cancelled this year due to COVID.
RNA chief executive Brendan Christou explained how much they will receive depends on their “unrecoverable costs”.
“We are very happy to be receiving this support after the two years we have had,” he said.
The show was cancelled just five days out from opening this year.
