Queensland Police Inspector Adam Muir says the man’s family were able to farewell the man before he passed.
“Unfortunately, some really really bad news. The driver has been pronounced dead at the scene.
“His wife and son were here as well and they certainly got to say their goodbyes before he left, so a very sad set of circumstances.”
Police have praised the heroic efforts of bystanders who attempted to save the man’s life.
“They’ve done a fantastic job and I’d like to acknowledge all those people involved in this crash.”
