Three people have died after a light plane crash near Ipswich this afternoon.

It’s understood the Cessna took off from Dalby this morning, before it plummeted around 2000 feet to the ground near Fernvale.

It was due to land in Archerfield at 2pm.

Authorities began searching for it when it failed to arrive.

The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate the circumstances of the crash with help from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
