Scott Morrison is defending his comment on children with autism after heavy criticism.

When asked about the National Disability Insurance Scheme from a woman with an autistic son during last night’s leaders’ debate, Mr Morrison said: “Jenny and I have been blessed. We’ve got two children who haven’t had to go through that.”

The Prime Minister told Ray Hadley “every single child is a blessing”.

“I was simply trying to say in good faith ‘I haven’t walked in your shoes’.”
