EXCLUSIVE | Brutal wife-murderer loses appeal to stay in Australia
In 1993, Frederick Chetcuti was sentenced to 24 years in jail for the brutal murder of his estranged wife Gloria.
With their 16-year-old son in the car, he followed her, forced her off the road, kidnapped her, battered her with a rock then dumped her in the Parramatta River, weighing her down with rocks until she drowned.
During his time in jail, he was charged with assaulting prison staff and other inmates.
After his release, Immigration Minister Peter Dutton ordered him to be deported to Malta, but the courts overturned that decision.
Now, in a stroke of common sense, Chetcuti has lost his final appeal against deportation with the Federal Court also ordering him to pay the government’s legal bills.
Chetcuti’s step-daughter at the time of the murder, Donna, has been in regular contact with Ray about the case.
She was 12-years-old at the time Gloria was murdered and remembers living with Chetcuti in the days up until his arrest.
Ray speaks with Donna again following the news out of the Federal Court.
