Western Australia has gained a new title: the Road Trip State

But what exactly are the sights and experiences that have earned WA this alluring moniker?

This was the question that spurred Steve Price to hit the road on a fantastic four day journey, where he found the answer to be a perfect mix of breathtaking natural beauty, fascinating history and scrumptious food.

In short, everything you’d want from a road trip.

This time around, Steve’s trip was focused on the Great Southern region of WA, with the city of Albany serving as the starting point and clear highlight.

He hiked along rugged coastlines before taking care of the appetite he worked up with some fish and chips officially and rightfully deemed the best in Australia- paired with some award winning whisky, no less.

Albany is also one of the most historically significant destinations for our ANZAC heritage in all of Australia and Steve was there for a moving and totally unforgettable Remembrance Day ceremony.

Spiralling out from Albany, the rest of Steve’s journey was filled with experiences ranging from indulgent to unexpected. He walked along the tops of some of the oldest trees on the planet and took a dip in water he described as “the most pristine” he’d seen anywhere in the world- all before taking the time to wind down and reflect in the famous wine region of Margaret River.

The sum of it all? Undeniably proof that WA indeed earns its title as the Road Trip State.

There are so many different ways to experience extraordinary in Western Australia.
