A door at the Fair Work Ombudsman office in the Brisbane CBD has been smashed after a rally turned violent today.

Thousands of tradies have gathered across the country to demand wage increases and safer working conditions.

9News reporter Jacob Chicco told Sofie Formica a group in Brisbane stopped on George Street, where tensions escalated.

“I spoke to Michael Ravbar, the secretary of the CFMEU, he’s disappointed that the door was smashed,” Jacob said.

“He said it did sort of take away from the rally and the importance of them getting their message across.

“He did actually offer to repair the door as an apology, he really didn’t want the vandalism to take away from the key messaging.”
