The state government has announced it will ease the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, with the jab requirement no longer applying for those who work in private health facilities.

In state parliament today, Health Minister Yvette D’Ath announced the rules are changing from tomorrow.

Those who work in private health facilities, including hospitals and GP clinics, will no longer need to be fully vaccinated.

Instead, those decisions will be left to employers.

However, the rule will remain in place for those in the public sector as well as staff within private aged care and disability accommodation services.

Neil Breen has questioned the difference.

“I find it absolutely fascinating,” he said.

“That there’s one rule for one, and one rule for another, and you are doing the exact same job.”

Also starting from next week, Queensland Health will report COVID-19 case numbers daily from Monday to Friday with no updates on weekends.
