Federal opposition calls out ‘over-represented’ union voices at jobs summit
The federal opposition says unions are over-represented at the Jobs and Skills Summit, which starts tomorrow.
About 140 union, business and community leaders will make-up the event, along with premiers and chief ministers.
Around one in five attendees are union leaders.
Deputy Opposition Leader Sussan Ley says the unions are over-represented.
“The unions have played the government off a break here, and they have got even more seats that I think even they dreamed of, 25 per cent at least,” she told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live.
“And remember only 10 per cent of the workforce is unionised, so they are over-represented.
“They do have a perspective and they do have a voice, and I am not saying that they shouldn’t, but what’s really going on here and who is really calling the shots?”
