Feds to splash $28.2 million for raft of new mobile towers

A raft of new mobile base stations will be erected around the country in a bid to improve mobile coverage.
The federal government has committed $28.2 million to building 66 new towers, with a further $78.5 million on the table if re-elected.
Minister for Communications Paul Fletcher told Neil Breen three new sites will be built north of Brisbane in the Longman electorate.
“We’ve gone through to identify locations in the urban fringes of our big cities where mobile coverage isn’t as good as it should be,” he said.
“Our cities are growing rapidly. We’re providing some supplementary funding.”
