Feminist trailblazer Germaine Greer to turn 80
Germaine Greer is one of the world’s most recognisable feminists.
She’s been described as a fearless provocateur and has been called everything from a ‘ratbag’ to a ‘genius’.
And as she turns 80 on Tuesday, there’s no denying she’s been a catalyst for change in the lives of millions of women.
As a student in Melbourne, Elizabeth Kleinhenz heard frequent talk of Greer and urged on by her mother – a first-wave feminist – she read The Female Eunuch, Greer’s first book.
Elizabeth is also the author of The Life of Germaine Greer and she speaks with The Weekend Edition.
