Foreign-born criminals receive lenient sentences to avoid deportation
Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Peter Dutton, talks to Ray Hadley for his first weekly chat of 2018.
They discuss unions causing havoc in Sydney and Brisbane, moves to deport paedophile priest Finian Egan and magistrates giving lenient sentences to foreign-born criminals so they can’t be deported.
Mr Dutton says that shouldn’t mean someone born overseas gets special treatment in court.
“You’re seeing sentences where they’re delivering softer sentences, less than 12 months, so they don’t get deported.
“I just think that’s absurd, it’s outrageous.”
