Former Green’s leader says MP’s departure will cause ‘some trouble’
Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham has torn up his party membership, announcing he’ll instead run as an independent at next year’s state election.
He says the party has abandoned principals it was founded on and is instead infested with corruption.
Mr Buckingham was asked to step aside from the upper house ticket earlier this month after he was accused of “sexual violence” against a Greens employee.
Former leader of the Greens Bob Brown tells Michael McLaren it’s bound to cause some trouble.
“[Mr Buckingham’s] got a record for rural and regional New South Wales in terms of the environment.
“It’s a loss for those who want a strong voice for the environment.”
